Selection Criteria for the National Team - Elite Squad
|
Scottish Taekwondo players who wish to join the Scottish National Team Elite Squad for the 2011-2012 season will be considered for selection providing they meet the following criteria:
1. They have a valid taekwondo licence recognised by BTCB and BTCB (Scotland). 2. They are at least 10 years old. 3. They have won a British Championship title in 2011 or 2010. Those who have not won a British Championship title will be considered if they either: a. Win a gold medal in any two of the following National level events: Ultimate Open, Dragon Open, or Scottish Cup (more events will be added as we get more details of other tournaments), or b. Win a medal at any of the following A-class tournaments: British Open, Paris Open, Dutch Open, German Open, Belgian Open,or Spanish Open. 4. They want to represent Scotland or Great Britain at the highest level. 5. They are eligible to represent Scotland or GB. 6. They have not missed a session in the squad programme they have been with so far (e.g. National Team Development squad) or if they did they were able to provide a reason that was justified and explained. 7. They observe and adhere to the appropriate taekwondo etiquette and conduct themselves in a respectful and courteous manner. Each case of a player who meets the above criteria will be assessed by the High Performance Coaching Team who will act as the selection panel on behalf of Scotland’s governing body for TKD: taekwondoscotland, also known as BTCB (Scotland). Any decision made will be final and will be communicated to: the Scotland National Team Head of Team (Master David Bailey) and the BTCB (Scotland) Executive Committee representative (Master Jim Kennedy). For those players who fulfil the above criteria and are invited by the selection panel to join the elite squad, being part of Scotland’s National team elite squad means that, providing they meet the next set of selection criteria, they will be able to win caps with either the Scottish National team or the British National team. They will also get more coaching, teaching, guidance, and support (in various ways) to help them reach the appropriate standard to allow them to compete for a major title with the Scottish National team or the British National team at major events such as the Commonwealth Championships, the Europeans, the Worlds, and the Olympics. If you have any queries regarding the selection process and criteria for a place in Scotland’s National team elite squad then please contact: Scotland’s National Team Head Coach Master Nikos Jakubiak. |
