SCOTTISH SUCCESS AT WORLD POOMSAE CHAMPIONSHIPS Lyndzie Jeffrey achieved Great Britain’s best ever result of 11th in the 2nd Senior individual female category. She put in strong performances of Yukjang and Paljang to qualify from the preliminary round but despite her best efforts in Taebaek and Pyongwon didn't progress to the final. Being one of the youngest in her category and achieving her best result to date means the future looks very bright for Lyndzie. Likewise Angie Bailey achieved Great Britain’s best ever result in the 1st Masters individual female category though not without agony in the semi-finals. She was so close to qualifying for the final round with some confident poomsae but was agonizingly pipped by just 0.01 of a mark for the last of the eight qualification places by home favourites Russia, who went on to take a bronze. Angie had to settle for a world ranking of 9th. This, added to her 6th place finish at the European Championships, goes to show how much Angie, and Scottish poomsae, has progressed recently and we can look forward to more success at the highest level in the future. |
